How exactly did Christ love the church? wasn't he a little rough w/ the church when trashed the temple?

He didn't trash the Temple, he took a stick to the Jewish money changer's tables set up in the Temple, Jews were robbing the people who came to Jerusalem by telling them that they had to change their money to the currency in Jerusalem to give to the clergy in the Temple which devalued the people's money. The Jewish money changers then could use their money to buy products brought into the city at a cheaper price.
