HELP! i have a nasty painful zit and it wont go awayyyyy!!!?

okay so it started as a small-ish zit, but it hurt so i popped it to get the stuff out. then i put salycid acid on it and went to bed. I woke up the next mornign and it was super swollen and way more painfull. It has been like this for about 3 days and the swelling and pain have not gone down at all! any advice?! this has never happend to me before!
